What's cooler than Zombies? Nazi Zombies of course! War Of The Dead is the newest addition to the film and it is brilliant! It's so much fun and the take on zombies is great fun - not only are they running zombies, but jumping and sprinting!
This is from the official UK press release:

At the beginning of World War II in 1939, in a secret bunker near the border of Russia and Finland, the Nazis began “Anti-Death” experiments on captured Russian soldiers. Two years later the project was abandoned with all records destroyed on the orders of Adolf Hitler and the test subjects buried in mass graves nearby.

Soon after those events, an elite squad of US soldiers is teamed up with a Finnish task force and sent on a mission to seek out and destroy the bunker along with any inhabitants remaining there. Following an ambush en route to their target, during which the Allies lose a considerable number of men, to their shock and horror they later find themselves face-to-face with the same enemy soldiers they had eliminated in the earlier skirmish. The big problem this time around is the enemy is more fearless than before and much harder to kill. After all, they’re already dead.

It's Dog Soldiers meets Dead Snow in this action-packed shock-fest in which a small group of Allied soldiers comes up against a horde of Nazi zombies.
Last year I made a Horror Movie Montage and thought you might like it...

I rememeber it taking quite a long time to do - especially since I was only using Windows Movie Maker at the time! I'm really quite proud of it though - it's rather cleverly edited with the lyrics/music/other clips even if I do say so myself.

How many of the films do you know? :p

Just read this, and I"m unsure if this is a good thing or not. Raimi is one of the only people I'd want to attempt to remake this, but from what I read he's only producing, he isn't directing. I guess he's busy with his Wizard of Oz Prequel. No one is signed onto direct, but this could be disastrous!

Poltergeist holds a special place in my heart, I sort of broke my cherry on this movie. This was the first horror I saw in an actual theater. and it freaked me out! I'd hate to see it ruined by some swarmy cast or a total rewrite.

Hello,

I'm just writing part two of my horror todoings and I sent it off to my editor and he said that it was sick and worse than the first part. (He still edited it, he's just used to the sappy fiction I normally write).

I said it was no worse than something like Hostel, but he thinks that reading horror is far worse because you have to create it in your own mind and films are passive.

What do you think?

It's a free read at my website if you want to read part one. I am meant to be getting part two online by the end of the month, which I think might be tomorrow!

Cheers,

On io9.com, they are currently posting the 100 albums every science fiction and fantasy fan should listen to.

Of course, it is very subjective and all, but they are focusing on concept albums and albums that have the basic (loosely defined) themes throughout...

So far, in my hard drive, exist the following:

95. The Residents - The Commercial Album (1980)
94. Front Line Assembly - Tactical Neural Implant (1992)
91. Space - Space (1990) (maybe??? KLF side project)
90. Black Sabbath - Master of Reality (1971)
84. Goblin - Suspiria Original Soundtrack (1977)
83. Bo Hansson - Music Inspired by Lord of the Rings (1970)
82. Clint Mansell - Moon Soundtrack (2009)
78. Blue Öyster Cult - Fire of Unknown Origin (1981)
77. Alan Parsons Project - I Robot (1977)
76. Praxis - Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) (1993)
68. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (1974)
59. Cybotron - Clear (1990)
57. Björk - Homogenic (1997)
54. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯A♯∞ (1997)
53. Tangerine Dream - Phaedra (1974)
52. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 (2000)
51. Iced Earth - Dystopia (2011)
47. Man or Astro-Man - Eeviac: Operational Index and Reference Guide, Including Other Non- Computational Devices (1999)
45. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92 (1992)
42. Gary Numan - The Pleasure Principle (1979)
40. The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (1991)
39. Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation (1988)
38. Goldfrapp - Black Cherry (2003)
33. Hawkwind - Space Ritual (1973)
31. Rick Wakeman - Journey to the Center of the Earth (1974)

I have several bones to pick (the last? Seriously? Over Myths And Legends Of King Arthur????) but it does raise the question: what are the best horror themed albums?

Concept LP's? Prog-rock, metal, etc. I know a lot of metal would qualify (I would lean towards Iron Maiden and Danzig, or Glenn Danzig's solo works, which are shocking in their beauty, depth and texture)....

Pony up, lads n lasses.... what are your faves? (I have not made my own list, but I am really curious)....

I know that Iced Earth's album Horror Show would have to be on my list, every song based on a horror film, novel or theme, and as I just mentioned the Black Aria albums (I do love them both) by Glenn D.

Alice Cooper's Along Came A Spider is a concept album about a serial killer that shows that make up doesn't make the rock, and age doesn't even slow him down....

at heart, i suspect we are all fans above all else. we have our cinematic loves, and we are fiercely protective and loving of them. to whatever degree adulthood has taught us the more scholarly aspects of cinema appreciation, i know i am still very much driven by what appealed to me as a child, and i love, above all else, the things that sparked something in me as a youngster.
Strongly tipped as a filmmaker to watch on the strength of his astonishing debut feature “Frontier(s)” and hard-hitting follow up “Hitman”, director Xavier Gens fulfils all expectations with his latest offering, The Divide, an intense, post-apocalyptic shocker hailed as “a must-see” by Aint It Cool News and described by Screenjabber.com as “a film of extreme visual flair… thrilling… thought provoking, exciting highly recommended.”

Adding further pedigree to the film’s impressive credentials is a stellar cast of familiar horror, sci-fi and cult genre movie stars that includes Michael Biehn (The Abyss; Aliens; The Terminator), Lauren German (Hawaii Five-O; Hostel: Part II), Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction), Milo Ventimiglia (Wolverine; Heroes), Courtney B. Vance (Final Destination 5; FlashForward) and Ashton Holmes (Nikita; The Pacific).

As an onslaught of nuclear missiles from an unknown assailant falls on New York City, a small group of tenants and the caretaker of an apartment building manage to find refuge in the building’s bunker-like basement. But as the days and nights slowly tick by, their sanctuary starts to resemble something more akin to a living hell. Adding further terror to the situation, the shelter is unexpectedly attacked by mysterious armed assailants wearing hazmat suits, their motives unknown but their merciless method of assault all too clear. This new threat forces the trapped victims to unite against a common enemy but it is a unity that proves to be short-lived.

With little chance of rescue and only unspeakable horrors and almost certain death awaiting them on the outside, the survivors slowly begin to descend into madness as food and water supplies dwindle, tensions flare and self-preservation becomes the only option. The ensuing power struggle leads to physical, psychological and sexual torment among the group as each member loses touch with his and her humanity. Despite this, one individual holds on to the hope of some form of salvation beyond the thick concrete walls of what may soon become nothing more than a tomb.

From its terrifying opening sequence to its breathtaking and totally unexpected finale, The Divide grips like a vice throughout and sees the ever-excellent Michael Biehn delivering one of the most riveting performances of his career.

]I got to see it the other night and thought it was incredible! A sci-fi film that is really quite difficult to watch. If you're a fan of the really hard horror films that are coming out like Martyrs, Inside, Switchblade Romance and stuff like Saw this is definetly something to like into. Strong stuff and a must for any horror fan!
