YouTube Madness Out Of Time

I began to use YouTube as a way of proclaiming the genius of H. P. Lovecraft and extolling the wonders of the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival and CthulhuCon -- and it certainly has become addictive. We are sometimes made to feel that it is "wrong" or "lame" of us to promote our own books -- but you know, if you are a small press writer, that we MUST do what we can to promote our books and thus help out the people who actually pay money to have those books published and distributed. Perhaps it is because I am a punk exhibitionist that I feel no qualms about reviewing my own books at Amazon or on YouTube. If such behaviour is frowned upon -- cool. I adore disapproval.

There is such a wide audience of horror fans at YouTube, such a heap of horror films posted, &c &c, that it is the perfect place to check in with others in our nameless community, be they writers, film makers or fans. I see YouTube as a modern electric form of punk fanzine -- but with the potential for a far wider audience than I could ever have reached even when I was published 1,000per issue of PUNK LUST. Not only can we speak about our books, the books of our buddies, the old-time horror writers that we love such as Robert Bloch and H. P. Lovecraft, but we can shew the actual books of which we speak to our webcam. I recently recorded a vlog concerning the magnificent art-book from Centipede Press, ARTISTS INSPIRED BY H. P. LOVECRAFT -- and this new medium was a killer way to showcase that fabulous tome.
