Because of the Halloween season is upon us and because I love horror movies in general like most of you guys, what was the most recent horror movie you have watched. (At the movies, DVD, or regular tv).

Last night I watched Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride.

Marronnier. I know it doesn't sound like it but it's a Japanese horror movie. It's camera quality is fairly poor. When you're watching it, the plot is very hard to follow, and is kind of stupid at first, but I started to like it later on. I'd give it a 5/10. It's a horror movie about dolls that are made of the bodies of young women, turned into wax. They come to life and try to kill people, but it's the guy who made the dolls who is the true villain (and who does most of the killing). Actually I can't remember if the dolls kill anyone. The plot seems more like something for an anime movie, actually... I bet it would make a really cool anime!

I like that movie tooo. I might have to rent it because I have not seen it scheduled to be shown on tv yet. It's a shame that they keep showing the same horror movies over and over again when they are many out there that are great such as Evil Dead. I did get to watch Army of Darkness this passed weekend.

I saw this really awesome movie, it was Horror/Suspense... i dont know if anyone has heard of it but it was called "The serpent and the rainbow"! Kick ASS movie, its about these people who master this art of zombification err... whatever which is where they put you into a coma-like thing and you cant move or speak or even breathe (yet u still stay alive?) but you can still feel things! my favourite part was where this guy gets "zombifyed" and they take him to a morgue thinking hes dead, and what they do is they take a needle AND POKE HIM IN THE EYE WITH IT! ALL THE WAY IN!!! its not rweally that gruesome but its really nasty if you actually see it. i give this movie 9/10 for being totally awesome

"Red Dragon" is the original title of the Thomas Harris book. It was adapted to the screen as "Manunter" then re-done as "Red Dragon" With Sir Anthony and Edward Furlong

So if you've seen Red Dragon, Manhunter will be no surprise. If you really wanna see it, your local Blockbuster should have it on DVD, I've seen it with my own two eyes

Nihilistic Weasel

Well she's pretty main in Saw 3 as well...but it explains all that

Just watched "The Hole" with Kiera Knightly, not what I expected, a good thriller, the plot was stretched a little thin, but overall, real twisted, pretty good flick.

reagan
03-13-2007, 12:23 AM
Yeah "The Hole" is pretty twisted and claustrophobic. Agree there are some parts that could have been trimmed. Overall - disturbing.

2001 Maniacs - disappointing, but then I expected it to be. It just wasn't 'grubby' enough for a HG Lewis remake/sequel

Nihilistic Weasel

Now let's not be hasty, let's not forget some of the rare times when sequels are better then the original.

Mind you this is my personal opinion:

Terminator 2 : Judgement Day
The Godfather 2
The Empire Strikes Back (mind you this is part of a Trilogy...but this was my favorite)
Aliens (not Alien, I mean the second in the Alien Quadrilogy)
X2
The Devils Rejects (Sequel to House of 1000 Corpses)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (HEAVILY debatable, I know)
Batman Returns (Best Batman movie overall, though the award for best Batman movie character goes to Jack Nicholson as the Joker in the original)

These are all I can think of... Think I'm gonna start a new thread....

Oooo ooo ooo! Just re-watched "Last House on the Left" one of Wes Craven's original flicks and man, Definitley his best! What a mentally horrifying flick. It's all campy and upbeat, but is all about two underage chicks being kidnapped and killed.

More like Devil's Rejects then a horror flick. This is definitley more a "Murder Movie" then a slasher flick. It's pretty old but by the 1972 standards... with the horrors of the Manson Family still fresh and killers like The Zodiac terrorizing police in the San Fransisco area, this must have been a real shocker.

reagan
03-31-2007, 12:49 AM

I dunno, Paris Hilton DYING.... only reason I watched it.

Though the most recent one I watched was a trhiller called Mindhunters with Christan Slater and Val Kilmer.

Basically it's about a group of potential FBI Profilers and their final exam where they are trapped on an island and have to profile a simulated serial killer called the Puppeteer. Everything goes well until they really start dying one by one, and the plot thickems when they all find out, the killer is one of them....

Good twists, good gore, some good acting, alot of clunky dialogue though, but otherwise a totally worthy flick.

I definitley recommend!

However do NOT watch any of the Leprechaun movies after the first one...

I watched the 4th, Leprechaun in Space...

It was like a porno flick, with no sex... so you get all the crap acting, the crap effects and the crap story, with very minimal boob... THere is some boob mind you, but not enough to warrant this piece of crap.

However... whilst drinking, it is a great one to just rip apart MST3K style

yeah, I actually prefer movies with wrestlers(I'm just kinda wierd that way)

but, santa's slay is more of a comedy, a damn funny one though.
but there is something very strange about it: it's got alot of actors from "lifetime channel" sitcoms doing bit parts, like fran drescher in the first scene, and various others like her for some reason.
and it's full of crappy puns, like when he walks into a titty bar and says "ho's ho's ho's" and that kind of thing.

basically, a really cheap movie.

I watched hostel 2 last night. I didn't like it as much as the first one, but I still enjoyed it. The ending was humorous though, and I hate laughing at horror movies. That ruined it.

Boy Eat Girl. Yeah it's a real movie. British, with Samantha Mumba as the lead chick. It was okay - but the ending could have been prevented (ie - lots of people didn't have to die) if someone had listened to the mother (or read the script)

killers in thewoods - lots of campy pictures of psycho chasing nubile teens thru the woods.

I bought Dead Silence whenever it came out. I love that movie! It's a real good horror movie. Saw 3's good too. :)

The Crow!!!

Woot! One of my favorite romance movies! :D And sadly the orgin of the term, "friends don't let friends wear Crow-Face". It's too bad. I pull off a pretty good Crow-Face. :p

I'm surprised nobody brought it up, but I saw 1408 a little while ago. It was pretty good.

Been watching Masters of Horror season 2 - even though I don't like short stories (and these don't change my mind btw. lol) And just saw Final Destination 3 - not bad, but the opening disaster, when it finally actually happens, could have been more disturbing than just a 'throwaway' scene.

Maniac Cop 2. Right before that, I watched the original Maniac Cop. Not bad for low-budget 80's horror.

My most recent horror film was The Omega Man. I was surprised at how similar it was to the Will Smith I Am Legend. (I'd heard originally that the new Will Smith adaptation was going to be more faithful to the original Matheson novel, but it wasn't even close.) Unlike some movies from that era. The Omega Man is definitely dated. I especially liked how the "mutants" all call each other "brother".

I love those snappy threads that Chuck Heston gets to wear.

Carriers, although it was more horrible than horror. Piper Perabo looked great, though.

Something else I enjoy about The Omega Man was how he had such a well-stocked bar. He really seemed to be living it up in his little apartment there.
