Well the subject says it all. We just bought a house a few months ago and this is our first time decorating a house that is actually "ours". We have rented before but the landlords didn't want much "done", blah blah blah. Well, wanted to go all out this year. First thing I did was stuff this big "scarecrow" looking thing with a bunch of straw... and of course to make it lifelike, I put my husband's work boots on him, gloves, and the stupid part... my authentic Michael Myers mask (1 of the 2 I have). I had it outside for ONE DAY! Woke up this morning, mask is gone. Suprised me actually cause this is one of those neighborhoods that has like.. zero problems, everyone is so friendly and looks out for one another.. quiet little subdivision. Well, it didn't just roll away. Any one have any pointers for keeping your dummy (the scarescrow thing not me) in place without losing it's parts? lol... Sorry for venting just frustrated.

Wish I could say the wind blew it away lol BUT, it was weighted, AND.. it was pinned to the shirt collar.. someone just took it to be a @$@#% .... guess i know better now than to put expensive masks out...

Someone walked off with it, I bet. I am sorry. People can be idiots.

when decorating your yard for a holiday...

you should always put the more expensive things closer toward the house like by windows...

and put the less expensive things toward the street...because people sometimes crash, drive on peoples yards...etc....so that way your yard can be decorated with stuff...but if something goes wrong your expensive things more than likely wont be damaged...

I agree Phobia... see that's what gets me the most... the "dummy" was on my porch.. RIGHT by the front door, and the big picture window in front of my living room.. any closer to the house and it would have been IN the house lol. Someone must have done it while I was asleep. And I got a dog too, but she thinks she's a cat so not like she's much good for "alerting" me lol. Just runs and hides. Oh well... gotta suffer this loss I suppose... the mask I put out last night survived. Then again, it was only $5.00 so no one wanted it I guess lol. Long live Michael Myers, wherever he is now lol.

Yeah my luck it will be some poor kid who got his dream mask... and I mistake it for mine lol. I didn't plan on being a "witch" lol.... It's probably just hopeless. At least I have mask #2!

True, however, at that price, there probably won't be that many wearing them either. I would keep an eyeball out for someone that I know wearing one.;) I branded mine on the inside back with a lighter and a nail, just for that purpose. I gave 65 bucks for it and definately couldn't afford losing it. I know how you must feel though, expensive and hard to get.[|)]

Yeah, and the fact that it took me almost 3 mnths to finally win a bid for one on eBay!
I probably would check each and everyone that had a mask like that. LOL
But then again......it would be your word against theirs.:(

Yes, Lady of the Night, I was there myself when we bought our home. I was just starting to make my own props. I made a spider web and a huge spider. I went to the craft store and it cost me about $30 after buying all the supplies I needed. I made it and we hung the web that night with the spider hanging from it. The next morning I came out to go to work and someone came by and just snipped the spider from the web. I was devestated and mad at the same time. Even though I have been in my house for over ten years now, most of my stuff goes out on Halloween and comes in on Halloween night. I refuse to let my stuff including my moveable and expensive props walk away and we still have to be careful because even though there is a curfew on Mischief Night, kids still come around and soap and toilet paper things. I understand your feeling about your stuff. You probably like to have it out longer so everyone can enjoy it. Believe me - I know.

Well now i'm wondering if i should take it in on Halloween before I leave. We are taking ous son Logan trick or treating in our homedown (neighboring town) where all our friends/family live, and no one will be here... so they'll probably take everything I have if that's the case. :( I don't know what to do.
