For those of you who have ever played the Twisted Metal video game series, you should know that Sweet Tooth is the ultimate killer of all time! He has 1,623 confirmed victims!
http://thetma.com/tmb/sweettooth.shtml
That is him! Now, here is an excerpt from his biography:
The first time Sweet Tooth killed someone he didn't even flinch. He did it as skillfully as a trained surgeon and without regrets. After the first one, it was obvious that he had found his calling in life.
He quickly developed an insatiable thirst for blood. Sometimes his victims were meticulously hunted down, but most were randomly chosen and just unlucky to have crossed his path. No one was safe.
According to his biography, he also drives around the country in an ice cream truck, killing people and storing their bodies in the truck's freezer. But, once, he was caught and in the electric chair when a preacher cursed him: he would live, but his head would always be on fire, for the rest of his life! He killed the cops who captured him and escaped. In fact, he is still free. Of course, he is not real.
So, screw Freddy! Screw Jason! Sweet Tooth is the supreme serial killer!

It is, isn't it? They should make a movie about him.

Also, another awesome Twisted Metal character is Mr. Grimm, the Grim Reaper himself, who drives a motorcycle. I think that in a movie, they should have the 2 face off, as Sweet Tooth probably evades death alot...

Ooh, I should write a script for that once House of Torture is done shooting. Which won't be until December.

Actually, I usually write my best stuff during school. I came up with the plot details of House of Torture during my History class.

Wait- did you play the one with good graphics? The characters are a preacher,a deformed boxer,Vietnam vet, etc.?
That is the newest one in the series, actually the 5th one. I have every one. 3 and 4 are terrible, though! They suck so bad! The first one was the first game to be released on the Playstation 1.

Yeah, that's the game. And you're right about 3 and 4. they did suck. But do you have the one in which they're kids with remote controlled cars?
I mean, I know that it doesn't count in the series, but I'm just curious.

HOLY CRAP! This is to shadow...
Shadow, you won't believe this! Read this:
"I do not think this is real. I must speak in code or he will discover me. We are trapped in his head. This is how he sees the world. How Sweet Tooth sees his life, it is not real. All of us are trapped in his head. I miss the old colorful world. We will return to our old world one day. In the real world, my name is Marcus Kane."
Twisted Metal: BLACK is The Matrix of videogames... that is, what is The Link?
The fans wanted a return to the Twisted Metal 2 universe, they wanted the universe to be further explained... who is Dark Tooth, who is Marcus Kane, why is Calypso's sister in hell, who won the game? The questions are plenty, lots of loose ends never explained, and from BLACK lots wanted all these loose ends to finally be tied together... but would that happen? Disappointment soon followed... BLACK was set in a completely different universe, no one from BLACK would know anyone from TM2 or TM1, they all have completely different personalities and stories. So the fans weren't to get a real TM3, and had to just accept that BLACK was going in a different direction... and maybe for the better...
But hope wasn't lost, Dave Jaffe (lead designer) started making hints in the previews and on this very site about a link... a link between the TM1/2 and TMB universe... something later hinted to strengthen the mystery between the Kane's. The Kanes?! If you go back to TM1 there is Charlie Kane and Needles Kane. In TM2, there is Marcus Kane and Needles Kane (and Charlie Kane as Dark Tooth if you want to believe that)... but because Roadkill in TMB isn't driven by any Marcus Kane but instead a John Doe, I immediately assumed the link directly involved Charlie Kane and Sweet Tooth (being the only 'known' Kane's in the game). But then, maybe John Doe was Marcus Kane, maybe that is what he can't remember? Nope... we were thrown a curve-ball, and a good one at that.
Reading the manual before even playing the game, it was all too obvious that Sweet Tooth was Needles Kane if you read Yellow Jacket's entry - he was 'the really bad Kane child', Son's older brother. Was The Link as simple as that? Beat the game with Yellow Jacket and discover that Sweet Tooth is Needles Kane, and he killed his dad? I hope not. Thankfully, when you unlock Yellow Jacket and his story plays, you know Sweet Tooth didn't kill his dad... so that rules that out, what else is left? I continued to play the game thinking this Link would be much harder to find, it could take months to dawn on us - maybe something small said in one of the movies, a slip of the tongue... but no, not that either.
You are about to defeat the game with all cars, and you still feel no closer to discovering the link. Then, straight out of left field... you unlock Minion, and are dared to discover his secrets?! Oh here we go, and who is this guy anyway? Well, decoding his 'secrets', and not just numerically, he is talking about having to speak in code to not be discovered, and returning to the colorful world... wha?! Thinking this was just another story, and he would tell of his torrid past, that didn't quite happen... he kept talking about being stuck in someone's mind, we are ALL trapped in his head... Sweet Tooth's head? Why would everyone be trapped in his head, especially Minion?
Then the bombshell drops... Minion is Marcus Kane, the same Marcus Kane from TM2... the link is that it's not real, just like Marcus knew TM2 wasn't (Calypso even congratulated him for figuring that out if you watch his TM2 ending again). Marcus knows he is the only one sane, everyone else is insane (but then how can you be sane among insanity?). BLACK is all in Sweet Tooth's head, it is how he sees the world, or how he wants to see it. Nothing in it is real, it is not real as Marcus said, it is all about massaging Tooth's ego, it's all about him... but how much?
Now this is where it gets interesting... the deep part... the extension of reality. Surprisingly, the link was right in front of our eyes well before we even unlocked Minion and found out he was Marcus Kane. The game was teasing us throughout that something just wasn't real, the whole game was not about contestants with haunting stories, it was all centered around Sweet Tooth... the fact BLACK isn't real and the fact TM2 isn't either is the link also. Most of the stories portrayed Sweet Tooth's beliefs, reflected his inner thoughts, they were his emotional puppets. Sounds like a bunch of crap to you? Then read on...
The obvious...
- He is on the title screen, his face, his eyeball, it always pans from him.
- He looks like a body builder, no one else in the game looks as buff.
- He has the best special in the game, totally unbalanced and devastating.
- He is the only one that can transform into a Mech and looks totally awesome!! No one else can.
- He is positioned right at the end of selection next to Minion, signifying he is of great importance and better than the bosses.
The not-so-obvious...
- He is the only one in the game that succeeds in killing Calypso with ease, and says early on that he will kill him later if need be, like it's all up to him.
- He says Calypso is a stupid name.
- He says the contest is stupid, so do others.
- He survives the electric chair, and a flaming head. Some stories are very realistic, this is pure fantasy.
- He beats off three police men bare-handed, killing them to escape even when they had night-sticks.
- He is the meaniest killer in the game, the most dangerous asylum patient. He has no equal, he has no compassion, he is pure evil.
- He expected more people to want to see him put to death... how vain, how can he not care he's gonna die?
- Calypso is very plain... never talks... making the tournament less focused on him, and more on Sweet Tooth and his mind-puppets.
- He hates cops, and the final boss is Warhawk - a cop, and he gets killed a lot.
- He is the only patient that is undiagnosed, meaning he thinks he is above any psychology.
- He is one of the only patients listed as a lost cause.
- "The first time Sweet Tooth killed someone he didn't even flinch. He did it as skillfully as a trained surgeon and without regrets." - that is in his write-up. How full of it is he - the perfect killer?
- He's the only character connected or featured in other character's stories... Preacher, Axel, Cage, Son, and of course Marcus Kane. His mask also appears in Dollface's story (her boss is making it), and a picture (portrait?) of it appears in Preacher's epilogue on the wall when he pins himself to the cross.
- During Sweet Tooth's middle movie, it shows newspaper stories with photo's of murdered bodies all bloody... in the real world, newspapers don't show you gory pictures in their reports, this is what Tooth wants you to see in the papers - and at the same time glorifying it.
- The General in Grimm's story doesn't age over 30 years for some reason.
The connections...
- All cops die in the game, Warhawk, Outlaw, and Roadkill.
- Because Tooth hates cops, you will notice that most the drivers before fighting Warhawk call him a pig as if someone else is speaking for them (Tooth).
- In John Doe's ending when he finds out he is FBI, and that Calypso is #2 on their hit-list, #1 must be Sweet Tooth.
- On the front of Darkside's big rig, a cop car.
- Bloody Mary will keep on killing until she finds the perfect man... that man is obviously Sweet Tooth, they both have so much in common.
- People with masks or no faces always get their revenge... Mr. Grimm, No Face, Dollface, Billy Ray... except BLACK (but I guess you can consider nuking Calypso's fort as some sort of revenge).
- BLACK isn't smart enough to kill Calypso, he hints it through the whole game he will kill him, but fails because only Sweet Tooth is good enough to kill him.
- Warthog is a serial killer with a flaw... he feels pain when he kills, Sweet Tooth doesn't... to equal him Cage must have surgery to remove the part of his brain that makes him hurt when he kills.
- When Son wins Calypso says he was looking for someone to take over the tournament... Son's brother (Sweet Tooth) was his first choice, but seeing Son killed him he could take over instead... that was Tooth speaking, not Calypso.
- Did anyone else think Billy Ray over-reacted a bit for a farmer when he hacked up his wife for cheating on him (and having her lover try to kill him), then decided that he liked the feeling he got killing and wanted to take it up full-time? O... kay... I think that was once again Tooth speaking.
- Axel was so furious that someone killed his wife, and she was sent back to him in pieces over 3 months... only the meaniest killer in the game could do that. Axel kills him, but doesn't feel any better.
- Preacher dies for putting a curse on Sweet Tooth... well, he commits suicide... but he does Tooth proud by murdering those people and blaming it on some imaginary devil, which must be what Tooth thinks of religon (and we know some of the worst serial killers are religious).
- How was Preacher able to put a curse on Sweet Tooth when he wasn't even a real preacher, but instead an evangelist?
- I'm sure many more subtle clues...
So there you have it, you didn't need to unlock Minion to discover the link... that BLACK wasn't real, it was all in someone's head... Sweet Tooth's. Now the question is, was TM2 in Sweet Tooth's head aswell, and was this all better than a real TM3 anyway?! Maybe... but we still want a real TM3 Dave... :-)
