Okay, I have a question. My friend loves horror movies. She watches them all the time. And she thinks that when the people die in huge icky bloodbaths, she laughs. Is this enjoying the movie or is she a sadistic weirdo? I find those scenes creepy as hell! Not funny.

I'm the same way. Laugh at the bloodbath parts I mean, but only if I've already seen the movie. I think it's just enjoying the movie.

iscream: It's harmless. Although I was (14,OLD!) when I saw my first horror flick. Evil Dead I believe. How old is your friend? a neighborhood kid saw part of Jaws @ 4yrs - terror kicked in a few years later; before that it was "the big shark". Nightmares happen when you least expect it.
Anyway - it really is harmless fun. Really.

My daughter, TheHalloweenPrncss, can watch the Scream movies and she will start laughing, asking why everyone is afraid of a guy in a mask but if you make her watch The Wizard of Oz the poor kid will have nightmares for weeks!

halloweenqn - your princess has obviously been brought up in a stable environment (I hope - no offence qn) Was looking forward to Scream, but I felt they blew it (expecting hurls of abuse now...) She slept with the killer, both the 'watching the movies' and 'cameraman dies let's go find her Dad...' ) BIG let down.

I like and really enjoy that kind of movies, when people is killed and in an bloodbath, when people is exploded or cut in the middle of them. I like a lot the war movies because of its visual efects, sometimes it seems so real when a soldier is mid-body-exploded and you just can see his body without legs or stomach; I REALLY enjoy to see this. Truly. But all of this doesn't mean that I'm a kind of criminal or serial murderer or somthing like that. Because IT'S JUST A MOVIE.
BUT... when I see REAL PEOPLE suffering or being murdered I don't enjoy anything, I feel very bad because I don't want to see the people in the world is killing each other with a lot of anger. In the real world is different, because the pain is real, the blood is real, the suffering is real and... I just think that those persons could be one of us...
I enjoy fiction, the movies. But no real people...

Night - you'll know on another post when I say; you're not as f***ed up as I thought and hopefully have a good laugh about my posts.
Is the quote from Scream - "Movies don't kill people! People kill people." applicable?

i laugh as long as its not a little kid or a character that i liked, or any animals. Kids and animals should not be allowed to die in movies.

demon - it's actually a fact that people will tolerate a person getting eviserated - but a pet being killed (even off, off camera) they feel repulsed. Human Nature.

Thanks reagan! I went to a website that has lots of bumperstickers and copied down a few of the ones that I just fell in love with! A couple of my faves are:
Save a cow, eat a vegetarian
Politicians and diapers need to be changed for the same reason
*Take your ex out tonight (one bullet oughtta do it!)
Sarcasm...just one more service I offer
and last but certainly not least....

I've got a ton of these but not all of them can be posted here!

My ex-husband has a bumper sticker on his truck that says "I still miss my ex but my aim is improving!", I think I'm gonna get him that other ex-hating sticker just so he'll know that he's not bothering me!

i had a bumper sticker that said unless your a hemorode get off my rear....that was funny but i sold the car, with the sticker on it i might add!!...i love a good scary movie, even though i go to church. my senior pastor went to see the ring when it came out. i know im suppose to stay away from scary movies like that, and im starting to slowly drift away from them, but there is one movie coming soon i want to see....land of the dead.... i always enjoy and good zombie movie, i used to have zombie dreams alot, when i was first playing resident evil.

I can see how she thinks it's funny. I view horror movies as unrealistic, so maybe she's laughing at scenes like that so she doesn't feel as scared.

Saw someone go into a seizure after an OD. Scared the hell out of me. I was the one called for help. I was sooo panicked - but so were the others I was with. To condense this, one of them said something and she & I laughed - not because we wanted to, but it is a normal human response. The other three understood this (thank goodness).
Unfortunately it could still come back to her, as I have pointed out to qn.
Apologies Hallowed one, just wanted to get that out. Feel free to bitchslap me seven ways to hell :(
