I have this story on my site, but I'll tell it here for anyone who's interested. It's long, but it's true.. it's about my oldest son's experience with a ghost at age 3. And, there's a 'twist' at the end, an 'occurance' of this same ghost again?? Not sure...
When my oldest son was 3 we were living in an apartment, my first (I was 18). It was only a two bedroom, and I had a 1yr old, so I let Michael have a room of his own, and I took a room with the baby.
Every night Michael would come into my room and wake me up. He'd say, "Mommy, can I sleep with you?" and when I asked why he'd say, "Because there's a man." When I questioned him about this (I was a single mom, and it was just the kids & I) he said that a man would come and stand by his bed, at the foot of the bed (which he called "the bottom of the bed"). When I asked what the man did, Michael would say, "Nothing. Just looks at me."
As cliche as it sounds, that room was always, always cold. I finally put the boys in one room, and took that room myself. It was cold, but I had no visitors.. and neither did Michael.
Later on when I'd met someone & we got married. I ended up having a horrible miscarriage in that room. Then, one night we took the kids to the movies. When we got back and I was getting the kids ready for bed, they all began complaining about being 'sick' and their heads hurting (the older two.. the baby just cried & cried). My husband and I were feeling really sick as well, headaches from hell, and so we thought we were coming down with the flu.
We put the kids to bed, then got in bed ourselves. Just as I was falling asleep my husband said, "Wait. I'm going to check something." He got up and went to the closet with the hot water heater in it (next to our room, right outside the door). Next thing I know he tells me to get the kids and get out fast.
The pilot light had gone out, and he suspected CO poisoning. We called the fire dept, and they evacuated the building and sent us to the hospital. Everyone was fine, but they said the apt was full of the stuff. They also discovered that some idiot (the slumlord, perhaps) had drilled a hole near where the pilot was and that it had been leaking for some time. The doctors and firemen told us that if we'd gone to sleep... well, we'd have slept forever.
A week later we moved.
Now, as I mentioned, I put this story on my web site. I also make all my graphics for my site and still have all the original PSD files. My almost 7yr old granddaughter was looking at the pictures one day (about a month ago) and she said, "Grandma.. what's that?" I looked, but didn't see what she was seeing. She pointed to the monitor at the bottom of the pic. The pic is of a 'corridor,' a hallway sort of floating in nowhere with a hazy ghost-like mist rising from it. She pointed to the bottom of the picture and said, "There, grandma!" (she was annoyed that I couldn't see it right off), "There's a man."
I looked at the pic closer, and sure enough... there's a face of a man, distorted, like a corpse... at the bottom of the image. The image had been up about a year, since I first built the site, and I'd never noticed it before. I opened the original file and looked to see what could've made the face... but there's nothing at all to explain it. Nothing. I turned up the contrast, because in Photoshop that will usually show you all the edges of images and more details than you want to see.. and the face just became more detailed, but nothing explained HOW it got there or WHY it's there.
