Just wanted to know why people in here watch horror movies? Is it because you like being scared, and really do get scared watching these movies, or is it a nother reason?
For me it has to be the whole experience/universe/gore and such that attracts me, but I really cant say that I get scared in a real kindda way. I get shocks and such when something comes screaming out from behind the ddor, but I dont really get scared - if you know what I mean. Ringu was a movie that really scared me. I had trouble sleeping after that one, and I know there's been some others too, but not many, and not anough to be the reason why I am a fan of the universe and such.

Anyway just wanted a second oppinion :)

I heard The Exorcist while in my mothers womb. She was in the movie theaters. My parents are horror freaks. I grew up withh them. Watching all my life. I don't know any one reason why I prefer them over the rest. To me, they are way cool.

Ok, well that is fair enough, I too was raised with horror movies, but it was more like my brother, who made me watch them. Your parents sounds cool, hehe. Btw Wolf what about the whole scare issue? Do you watch the movies in hope of being scared out of your mind, or is it too hard to get that kind of feeling?
Is there anyone else who would like to give some input? :)

well, I used to get scared with them. It kinda stopped when I reached high school. I kinda got desensitized. Now, there is still some that come out, that make me jump out of the chair. The 2 final destination ones do that. Even after several times watching both, I still jump in places.

I like this stuff because it relaxes me.
When I watch "sleepless in seatle" my thoughts go to work, school... what ever.
If I watch this horror stuff (final destination is a good example) it keeps my mind captured for 90 minutes.
If the actures do a good job, my blood rushes when somebody innocent gets hunted
or I think "You get what you payed for" if the evil one is in trouble.
At the end a good movie entertains, if it creates emotions.
Horror movies are the simplyest way to do that.
But even some funny guys like "ace ventura" can do this job for me.

yeah, that's just movies in general for me. I like to be distracted from the real world. With horror. I pretend someone I've been having grief from is the victims. Keeps me from doing it myself. Course, I do the same when writing. So in a way, I guess I am doing it.

At first I would watch horror movies because there wasn't really a lot of romance in it. I was going through really tough times with my x and instead of watching people being happy I wanted to see people going through hell like I was. So it made me feel better. Now I do it because it gets my frustrations out. I sort of like to live vicariously through the "bad guy". It's just more entertaining than watching people get what they want!

Uh, if there's a steady paycheck, I'll believe anything you say!

When I was little I used to hate horror movies. I grew out of that phase a couple years later and now I'm in love with them. Maybe that's why I'm so paranoid.

I'm not crazy!
