View Full Version : Ever been in a truly haunted place?

When I was a child, strange things often happened in my grandmother's house, such as footsteps that sounded like they were coming from the attic, weird optical illusions in the bathroom, etc, but it never struck me as really haunted, just strange.
But there was an ugly yellow house a few streets over, that my mother was looking into buying because it was a steal, but the agent warned her it was full of old junk and furniture, and the neighborhood kids said it was haunted.
We went in to look around, expecting to climb over old furniture, and found it empty. Something seemed a little off about it, too quiet.
I passed through the living room to the kitchen, noticing a single dining chair by the fireplace, thinking it was weird that I hadn't noticed it before. I went through the kitchen (which was dark) and checked out the back hall briefly, then came back through the kitchen, eager to get back with everyone else for no reason I could name, and nearly tripped over the CHAIR! It stood right across from me, facing me, in the middle of my path through the kitchen. No one else was in the house (they were all in the yard) and now I really didn't like it!
The chair kept moving from room to room, appearing one place and then another.
There was a weird pantry sort of space near the kitchen, an odd small door with steep stairs leading up into a terrifyingly oddly angled tiny space of inscrutable purpose, but as my sister climbed those stairs, I followed her for fear of being left alone with the damned chair, and by the middle way up those horrid stairs, the temperature seemed to have dropped dramatically. By the time my intrepid sister had approached the top of the stairs, now crawling because the slanting ceiling got lower as you ascended, my heart was pounding and the air seemed heavy with something just WAITING for us to get up into that scary space... I begged her, "Let's get down!!!" and by then even she couldn't deny the fear we both felt.
I was sure that something terrible was waiting for us in that weird dark cold cubbyhole...
That wasn't the end of the fright in that house, and needless to say we didn't buy it, and no one else did either, and eventually they tore it down...
So tell me, have any of you had similar experiences?
"Drop in any time!"

I was at my brother inlaw's house when he was first moving in with my sister. I went into his room and instantly felt really weird. I had what felt was a panic attack. But I do not know why. We were just moving stuff.
He grinned and did not say anything in detail until a few days later. There was a multiple murder in that room before they had moved in. I asked his neighbors and they told me that he was right. I bet they got the house cheap.

Sure. I toured one old house that just drove me out. Seriously, it was like somebody there hated me and forced me out of the house. I had the experince in one other home too. Now I'll admit I didn't want to be in the first, but I had the oddest feeling something bad happened in both places.

I lived in a haunted house when I was about five, well of course I thought nothing of it--since I was five and clearly dumb. But anyways..
My mom had just divorced with my father, so I was a bit torn apart..and I ABSOLOUTELY hated my step father then! It was at the time when I lived with my brother, Kyle. I was touring the house with my mom and decided to go downstairs with my brother, because, the fear of being left along in the living room, was a bit creepy at that age. As I was walking down those old creeky stairs, I felt a small push, but strong enough to fling me down the stairs. I started crying and my brother told me to shutup -_-;. I told him something had pushed me, but he considered I had just tripped(my darn ol' clumsyness!)After 5 mins of fighting about it, we heard a loud bang and the door slam. Kyle, strong and bold, walked to the stairs and stared at the door for what seemed hours. I finally walked up to him to see what he was looking at. At the top of the stairs, was a little girl. See was see-through, dark and wearing a white nightgown. I closed my eyes tightly and screamed, clutching on tightly to my brothers arm. He held back, scared to, as I opened my eyes and saw the fear spread across his face. My mom came in of course, and the ghost had already been gone. She led us back upstairs--and of course, did not belive the whole story. We still live in the house..and my mother has seen that little girl..shes belive it was farm lands..and we live in the farmhouse..where the little girl died.
agh!! Its true, just imagine being five and seeing your first ghost, of course at the time, I didn't know what it was. We still live in the house..and Im quite used to its strange happenings. [^]

You too? The ghosts in my house scared me spitless when I was little. I'm lucky they are nice and don't push people. They will call out your name and make crashing sound for attention, tho. Have you ever talked to the little girl? Maybe she was jealous or something and that's why she pushed you.

I have not talked to her, there is no way I ever would. When I was about 8, she still pestered me. Turn out lights, shut my door, scream in the middle of the night to wake me up--it just not would stop! Now since im a older then she is, she doesn't bother to annoy me anymore. She'll occasionaly turn off the computer while Im on it, or call out my name before I go to sleep. But no, I haven't talked to her, only when I was smaller I probably did..but maybe if you asked me..I'll tell you.

Yea I have been to one... My own house :D and im totally honest. Stuff has happened, Ive seen things, and felt things. Once, I was sitting here at my desk and had a pair of scissors sitting to some dvd's. Well I started to feel something and then a nail (that was at least 2 feet away flew over and attached itself to the scissors... Thats just one of a few things [8D]

I know I'm dragging this up from the dead but I thought why not?. I work in radio and a couple years ago for Halloween the station I was working at decided to do sort of a blair witch project. They found a house that's haunted in a place called "Fort Edmonton Park" (it's in Alberta lol) anyway I had to spend the night there from 8pm until 8am. I ran out of the house at 3am...I couldn't take it anymore. Don't get me wrong the ghost wasn't mean or anything I think he knew we were playing with it so he played with me. Just spooky stuff happened like things would move on their own and when you stood outside lights would go on and off. The upstairs windows were clear to look out of from the inside but from the outside they were cracked and dirty and light wouldn't register on the wall if shone from a flashlight.
That's my spooky story and that is so a halloween I will NEVER foget! Oh yea they don't pay lots in radio so I got the shaft LOL
Uh, if there's a steady paycheck, I'll believe anything you say!

My house one night had alot of activity going on, I got to see my grandfather sitting at the kitchen table and images of other ghost moving around the kitchen, I also saw a woman and a man dress in 1800's clothes standing in my kitchen next to the stove then later floating up to the ceiling. Then I have seen other spirits in my house at different times, as well as feeling their presents in my home.
I have walked through Sloss Furnace at one time and when entering the tunnel that was underground and very dark, the spirits of the furnace would touch and push me up wards, holding me there, like I was walking through the tunnel on the side of the tunnel. Like the Vampyres do in the Hollywood movies. . .
I went to a cemetery a very old one, it looked as if it was not being cared for, for some time. I know what your thinking of course its haunted its a cemetery. But this time it was not like any cemetery I ever been to in my life I've been to many cemeteries but it was nothing like this one, it was called Bass Cemetery. There is an old legend behind the story of Bass, but I thought it was people just saying things. But it is all true. When I was there you can feel the spiritual energy come off the place. You can feel the dead watch you with their eyes and approach your car and start to bang on the roof of the car and hood. It freaked me out so much I had to leave, on my way, away from the old cemetery I saw a man walking behind us in the rear view mirror, I told my driver to slow down and he did, as he ask me what? I told him what I saw, It was a man walking the opposite direction from the way we were traveling that evening from the red brake lights I could see a man dress in a red and blue blaid shirt and blue jeans walking away from us.
Believe it or not, its no lie . . .
