Maximoto, I really don't believe the one on COB works...on Ouija boards, you're suppose to touch the planchette with your fingertips...you'd have to apply pressure to your mouse button, and if you do that, the spirit couldn't move it. Besides that, I really don't think a spirit is going to possess your computer....lol....

So, Zombie, you like Ouija (oui - yes in French...Ja...yes in German) Board, huh? Then riddle me this...in which movie did the planchet from the board rise into the air, point at a female star (who was never, by the way, seen in another film) and then drop in her lap, only to have her say, when questioned about who was going to get it next, "I don't want to know."

Okay, anybody else? This is sort of an obscure film...but not that obscure! It was made by a notable horror film maker of the era...when you went to the theater you were given a "Ghost Viewer"...the equivelant of 3-D glasses, and it was re-made into a NEW version early on in the decade! Come on! Somebody had to know!
Okay, here's a clue...at the end of the hall in the Haunted Mansion..just before you get to the haunted ballroom...the clock is striking the first word in the title of the movie I'm talking about...

Totally off subject...but...I HATE it when know-it-alls, who are really know-nothings talk about ouija boards! Notice the fact that it ends in an "A", and not an "E"? God, they keep trying to convince me it's pronounced "ouijee"!! I mean, WTF?! *shakes head* I swear, I'm the only 14-year-old in my area, who has ever explored/researched the occult. [}:)]

Zombie,
Good for you! The board ISN'T pronounced "Ouijee". It's pronounced (phonetically) "Weega"
And the film I was refering to was none other than that old 1960s drive-in classic, William Castle's "13 Ghosts." (It was, in fact, the next film William Castle made after his other recently re-made classic, "House on Haunted Hill."
And as far as the use of Ouija boards go...well, when I was in college, I had a friend who lived in a haunted house. All the usual manifestations were there -- cold spots, flashes of blue light, fire places blazing to life, phantoms appearing on staircases, the lot. In investigating the phenomenon, we used a Ouija board to contact the entity under the guidence of the University's Occult and Mantic Arts instructor (part of the Philosophy Department). The results were not only startling, but later partially verified thought ancient residents of the area and some nearly hundred year old public records, although they were scanty. I wrote the whole incident up for my college newspaper. I still consider it to be my very first really stunning by line.

Hey zombie,
right before you go into the the board on COB it says:
Warning: you are urged to get at least one other person to touch your mouse with you as you move it across the board or, as gothic folklore suggests, you may be possessed by the spirit you conjure up in the Ouija.

@MM:I tried the internet version on COB once. Didn't get any results, even when by myself. Gave up on that. lol :D

hmm.. i feel like a loser posting after Craven..my posts seem so futile..my old house was haunted man..it was creepy, yet very cool. So i'll give yall the details..
ok i don't know the year but it was some time in the 1900's a family was living in the house. it used to be like a grove house (one of those houses that the people owned a lot of orange treest) and it was pretty much by itself. so the family was just going about their regular business when a stray man just walks in the house and kills everyone with a shotgun. i kid you not i still have memories of seeing the man (innocent one) hurled up in the corner shot in the head. and the lady ghost would shut all the doors we left open. i mean like if i left my bedroom door open when i got home it was closed and all other doors were the same way. i never saw the lady ghost but my dad did..he was kinda creeped out..real friendly tidy lady i suppose..i can't really explain it..but turst me..it was a little weird..oh..and if we left the iron out she would put it away..sweet sweet lady..i hope she Rests in Peace when ever she moves on from her ghostly life, or is resting in peace now..

Ok, heres my Ouija board story. My friends and I had a couple and we would use them at each others houses (except mine because my mom would kill me). We were heading to another friends house about 30 minutes away and I had the boards in my car. There were 2 car loads of us going. We stopped at a gas station for fuel and snacks and for some reason my gas cover wouldnt open. I had the locking kind that opens when you pull the button by the drivers door. Basically we pryed it open and of course it wouldnt close after that. We started driving again and my gauges started bouncing back and forth, like the speedometer and tachometer. From left to right just bouncing away. The heater was on but for some reason, no air was coming out but you could hear the fan going. We found it quite amusing until my headlights went off and on. I pulled the car over and the other car of friends behind us pulled over to see what was happening. I took the boards out and put them in their car and got back into mine. The gauges stopped bouncing, headlights worked fine and, guess what, heat was blowing out of the vents. We got to our friends house and noticed my gas cover was still open. I walked over to it, pushed it shut and it stayed closed. Nothing strange happend to the other car but there were 4 people in mine that got quite a show that night. So the morale of the story is...when transporting things of evil, use someone elses car to do it in!

I have been collecting ouija boards for several years. I have about 30 at the moment. There has been many times that I got together with a friend and tried to use one. Sometimes at a house that MAY have been haunted. And sometimes at a cemetary. Unfortunately,,, I haven't had anything exiting happen yet. I know it's bound to happen soon.

Dr. C, you saw 13 Ghosts too? I love that movie! I wish it were in #D or something beecause the ghosts effects are awesome. Didn't the audience get some kind of glasses when it was in the movie houses?
Yes, I have a ouija board, several in fact. I love using it alone because I'm paranoid and figure the other person is moving the planchette. There are several in house spirits I've talked too, and some rovers.
For some reason, P.O.'d with most ghosts, and end up taunting them. I think it is because the board makes my hands ache, the planchette too. I've been told a possible reason for that, but don't believe a word of it. One last thing, the part about ghosts grabbing lone users is a lot of bull.

Everytime I use a stupid Quija board nothing ever happens. I guess the spirits have better things to do.

to Dr Craven: Is the original version of 13 ghosts better than the re-make. I've seen both versions of House on Haunted Hill I reccomend the original.

i think the quija board is one of the most 'unfortunate' thing to use for a spirit comunication. Come on, isn't it a little to much to keep your fingers on the board and expect it to move?!

I use to use the board when I was a teen with my sis and aunt and it always answered our questions.
As for 13 ghosts, I loved the remake but have yet to see the original.
I love your haunted house story, Dr. Craven.

All I know is I had to close my board down for good because of one evil mother of a spirit who wouldn't go away. I don't even bother with it now, since I've found other forms of communication with the spirit world. I've since gotten rid of it.
I gave it away, which I am beginning to regret because I sincerely hope who ever gets it next doesn't get the spirit I got. He was nasty, vulgar and we were terrified of him by the end of the night. You could still feel him by the end of the session. Apparently to destroy the Ouija properly, you need to break it into 7 pieces and bury it.
At best, it's just a starting tool. Even so, you need to be very careful when using one. It's a doorway to things that are more powerful than we have the ability to keep out, especially when you have skeptics mixed in with believers, who mess everything up by trying to prove to you the messages that come through are a bunch of bull. I've had more than one problem with people like this in a Ouija circle.
That's only my experience. Somebody else may find it a very worthwhile tool. Check out the movie "Witchboard". It's a good ouija story.
Midnight ;)
