Well i'm originally from the midlands but now live in Darlington, near Durham.
My favourite horror is what i call quiet horror. None of that gory blood and guts stuff, can proudly say I've never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies apart from the first one-that was enough! I like to be scared,be given the creeps, rather than repulsed. Loved the Ring and The Grudge and thought Blair Witch pretty good too. Oh and I like The Fog,love John Carpenter movies! I want to read some gothic horror too and I'm also a big fan of science fiction.

Sure John Carpenter movies are always cool, The Fog is a classic, pity they had to re-make it which i dread to think what thats like
I like all the Friday 13ths myself but ah well
Havent seen the Original versions of the Ring or The Grudge, need to though as the re-makes were terrible i could only hope for the originals to be good, esp the Grudge, nothing remotely horrifying about some japanese chicks face popping out of the darkness every 30 mins or so, hope the original had more to it than that
Now Werewolf movies are where it's at, Company of Wolves and American Werewolf, classics!!

Oh i actually thought the Grudge to be pretty creepy, especially the japanese girl, freaky! I didn't realise they were remakes tho, well no i thought the versions we saw were the english versions re done for an english audience. Thought the originals were filmed the same year,a bit like the Hulk re do.

Ju-on: The Grudge (呪怨) is a 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_films_of_2003) Japanese (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinema_of_Japan) "J-Horror (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J-Horror)" film, written and directed by Takashi Shimizu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takashi_Shimizu). The film is the third entry in the Ju-on (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ju-on) series and is the first film theatrically released (the first two entries were direct to video productions). The film was released in Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan) on January 25 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_25), 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003) and has spawned several sequels and an American remake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remake) titled The Grudge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grudge) which was released in 2004 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004).
Havent seen the Japanese one but i'd personally hope it was better which originals usually are
'The Burning' is a classic horror you may wish to check, a few clips on Youtube you could take a look at, Tom Savini on special effects and some amazing death scenes great revenge story

I want to see some Edgar Alan Poe filmed, that kind of stuff,[also lovecraft but want to read some first,if i can find any!] but i don't think gothic horror is in at the moment, its all slasher movies at the mo,bleh, boring. Saw I was a good one but after that they get un watchable.

Just looked up The Burning on the Wiki,1981 slasher about a caretaker called Cropsy taking bloody revenge, not my thing.

So what other horrors are you into?
Cyclops
07-17-2008, 03:51 PM
Ah can't watch you tube on my phone...what other horrors do i like, well Amytiville was good, both old and new. Then there's The Thing, carpenter again. Err,let me think of some. Carrie,The Pit and the Pendulum,The Raven, IT, loads of others but can't think. Basically any film that concentrates on being scary rather than gory.

Well i know a SF film called Puppet Masters based on a book by Heinlein about aliens latching onto people's brains but thats not horror. Never heard of Ghoulies

Puppet Master is a horror film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horror_film) released in 1989 by newly-formed Full Moon Features (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_Moon_Features). The film was rated R for strong graphic horror/fantasy violence, a strong sex scene with nudity, and strong language. The popular film would eventually spawn 8 sequels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequel).
The Ghoulies films were a Gremlins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gremlins)-like American horror-comedy film series in the 1980s and 1990s centered around a group of evil little demons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demons) usually summoned by Satanic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanic) worshipers. The Ghoulies films are thought to be Gremlins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gremlins) rip-offs, but Ghoulies actually started development before Gremlins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gremlins).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghoulies#cite_note-0) Perhaps coincidentally, Ghoulies (spelled goolies) is also a British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_English) slang term for Testicles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Testicles).[
In my opinion GHOULIES was scarier
