I think I was probably 4 or 5 years old. I seem to remember being on a caravanning holiday with my parents, and peering through the curtains in my bunk-bed watching John Carpenter's The Thing. Scared the **** out of me! lol Man, the crazy sounds those creatures made!

By the way, I haven't killed anyone or got a criminal record, so the theory that horror and violent films inspire violence in the young is a myth.

Somebody I know was forced to watch The Exorcist when she was 5.

Her mother forced her to watch it as punishment because she kept using a hoarse voice that reminded her mother of Regan in all her vomiting, self-mutilating "glory."

That would be creepy to hear your little girl talking like that, but still pretty harsh, huh?

As for me the first movie I ever saw felt like a horror movie -- E.T. when I was 4. Saw it at the drive-in and was inconsolable after seeing E.T.'s sickly white body down by the stream. (was he by a stream? I haven't seen the movie in 22 years)

I think that the younger you actually watch horror films the less impact they have on you in later life as you become slightly desensitised to it all through watching films that you don't necessarily entirely understand.

The first one I saw I'm not sure counts but my mom took me to see Cujo in theaters when I was 1, apparently I sat there and watched the entire thing and didn't cry until it ended. First one I remember watching was It when I was 6 or 7 right after the first time I watched Labyrinth. I'm one of the only people I know who doesn't finds clowns creepy, but I couldn't make myself watch Labyrinth again until i was 23. Tim Curry as a clown not scary, David Bowie as the goblin king one of the scariest things ever.

I think my first horror movie was the Exorcist when I was like 3ish. Though like Richleigh said earlier, I think the younger you are the less the creepiness really affects you. It was scary don't get me wrong but it think it actually creeped me out more as an adult than as a kid

I was abt 5-6. The movie was The Exorcist. There was a big deal cause it was premiering for the first time on TV.I was staying the night at my aunts house with my cousin who was nine years older than me and she was just getting interested in the occult (she is a witch now). My mother told her under no circumstances was I to watch The Exorcist. Of course she agreed but then we watched it anyway. I've been hooked ever since!

The 1990 movie "The Witches" was the first horror I saw, if you'd even call it a horror. lol. I hardly remember it, I saw it when I was about 6 or 7 I suppose. It kind of saddens me how witches are portrayed so improperly by Hollywood.

The earliest horror 'film' that I remember was from Night Gallery. It was the episode with the toy horse. That was over thirty-five years ago and I still have dreams about that horse.

Night Gallery was awesome. We have both of the boxed sets on DVD here at the house. The kids love it.

Shows like this prove that you can scare the spit out of people without fancy special effects and without blood and gore. We need more horror like this.

I'm quite sure I saw a few horror movies before this one, but I can't remember the name of them, but I remember when I was 8 I watching "Dusk 'till dawn" on tv. I thought the movie brilliant, with some cool effects and story plot. Not bad for my first horror movie... that I first rembered watching.

Sounds good. Not bad for 5, it's usualy a prety grim experience at that age, especialy "Halloween" of them all. But atleast it was one of the good ones to remember.
