Strange light in a field

There is a field at the back of the street where I sometimes walk the dog at night,and one night I decided to go across the bridge over the river for a change. Well I got half way across that part of the field when I saw a bright light go front of me. I stopped in my tracks and called the dog to me,spooked. I looked again and the light was in the midst of some trees and then it dipped. Rather than just switching off I got a sense of an old victorian coach lamp with a hood that comes down over the light to extinguish it. i don't know if such a lamp ever existed but thats the feeling I got inside. Hard to explain what I mean really but it was more than the idea coming into my head but a sense inside me of thats what it could be. Anyway I called the dog and made my way back over the bridge asap. Not one to be spooked easily but this got to me,made me feel very uneasy. It was some time before I ventured over there at night after that,and even now I walk past the field and strain to see something.
