Horrorman wouldn't let a lots of gore escape his sight, would he? *pinches Horrorman's pale cheeks* But personally, I'd give Cloverfield a one at least, that movie is just crap. Sorry, honey. =]

I once started to watch it, but thought it was too boring so I didn't watch it till the end. =P I'd give it a five.

I've seen it. I basically fast forwarded until the good parts. It has a great "cheesy 70's" feel to it with the blood and flesh ripping. I wouldn't call it a great movie, but check it out if your interested.

And I'd give Cloverfield an 8!

PLANET TERROR

Horrorman gives it an 8

Its a great zombie movie with lots of gore and splatter.
It moves along pretty quickly and has good effects.
Recommended if you need that late night zombie fix

MANIAC

This is one of the sickest movies I have seen.
Its an older movie from either the 70s or early 80s.
Its about a very sick guy who kills women and keeps manicans of their likeness in his apartment. He scalps his victims and places the scalps on the manicans. Grusome special effects which are almost too real.
I believe the effects are done by Tom Savini who is known as one of the first effects artists for gore.
Not for the faint of heart.

See now I liked Cloverfield more then 30 Days. Cloverfield did have its drawbacks I'll give you that but it was an awesome experience in the theater. Probably why I liked it so much, on a normal television screen with normal audio the film just isn't given justice. 30 Days I found to be a little cliché. Been there, done that sort of feel though the story was original. It was a fun movie to watch and some of the gore shots were pretty slick I'll give it that. Nether movie IMO has great re-watch value.

To each his own.I am one of those people who absolutely hated Blair Witch Project. Cloverfield was a lot like that in its hand held camera technique. It was jerky and got old after awhile. The only reason I watched the whole movie was because of the special effects, which were pretty good. The first 15 or 20 minutes were sooooo boring I almost fast forwarded. I would not watch it again.

PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE

This gets my vote for one of the dumbest movies ever made {Besides Blair Witch Project}
It actually has a cult following because it is so stupid.
It stars Bela Lugosi in his last film{He died during the filming}
It has the cheesiest special effects I have ever seen.
It is the ultimate late night B movie
Want to watch something so stupid its laughable, this is it

But...but....I love Bella! He really died during the filming? Was he to appear in more scenes if he had lived??

Yes Red he did. I believe they made a movie about the director of this film starring Johnny Depp. I think it was was called Ed Wood. The director was known for really dumb movies and this Johnny Depp film explores his life. Ed wood is not a horror movie in itself but it explores the making of one. Its a weird movie like many of the Johnny Depp movies.

I believe a remake is in the works but I may have that confused with another horror movie. The Thing is among my favorites, a near perfect horror movie. It doesn't need to be re-made IMO and shouldn't be.

Sorry that was a misprint. I meant to say there should have been a sequel . The way the movie ended it seemed like there was room for Part 2.

RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD

A pretty good Zombie movie with comedy blended in.
It revolves around some army oil drums in which a top secret gas is encased.
They are discovered under a funeral home and are opened by a couple of idiots.
The movie moves along fast with some good effects and some comedy blended in.
Worth a look.

Hold on, are you saying that John Carpenter remade an older movie?

Horrorman

Yes I am. The Thing is a remake of a 1950 something movie called The Thing from Outerspace starring James Arness as the the thing. James Arness went on to play Marshall Dillion in Gunsmoke the TV western series. The original movie {in black in white of course} really is not that bad.

VAN HELSING

Starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale
A sort of homage to the Dracula, Frankenstein and Werewolf movies of old.
I really liked this movie alot
It has great special effects and good acting
Its just about a non stop ride of action and special effects
Definitely worth the rental price
It was great on the big screen

Yeah I love both of them and I also think it's funny how JC has a segment from the movie he would later remake in halloween.

I just saw on a movie site that there will be a Cloverfield 2. It's basicaly gonna be the same old thing, giant monster attacks... New York(obviously). Origins are said to be revealed though, who knows...

I give Cloverfield an 8.5! It's definitely a movie you have to see in front of the big screen to get the full effect.

Exactly! The big screen can make quite a difference in that movie...especially when Cloverfield peeks over the buildings and it looks like it's coming right down on you.

Wow.I finally read this thread ,and horrorman and I really feel differently about alot of movies. The original Thing is "not that bad"?
Return of the living dead is "a pretty good zombie movie"?
I consider both films among the most entertaining of all time.
Thats one of the things I like about this forum. Varied opinions make for interesting threads.
Looking forward to more reviews,HM
