My personal favorite would probably be either the original Doom or the first Resident Evil. I am most looking forward to Left 4 dead. Right now I am playing Jericho( im stuck though)

Resident Evil is definitely one of the best, and I think Constantine is pretty awesome too, only problem is, I can't even start playing it and it scares the crap out of me already. With those demons jumping out of the blue, I never got to pass the first level! And Silent Hill is cool too, I guess. (Don't pay attention to me, every damn horror game scares the living hell outta me so I usually don't play)

aaahhhhh...Then you should go play Dead Rising. There is practically no gore and definitely NO zombies that want to eat your flesh.(vampire walks away and Goat lets out a meniacal laughter):D

Nah, I'll just go play Tony Hawk. A game where I can play non-stop without getting scared! =D

Kind of a tough choice between Friday The 13th(Yes, there was a video game) and Manhunt, but I think I'll go with Manhunt. As for looking foreward to, I don't know. I only have NES, N64 and PS2, so I can't play very many of the newer ones.

I cannot believe the Silent Hill games haven't come up. They blow Resident Evil out of the water IMO. As such the game I'm looking forward to the most is the next Silent Hill game. I haven't gotten my hands on the original PlayStation version but number 2 and 3 for the PS2 are among the best games I have ever played and more frighting then any other game I have played or movie I have watched. Silent Hill 4: The Room is alright but not as good as the previous two.

HA!HA! Silent Hill is a mere rip off and counter part of Resident Evil, saying silent hill is better than Resident Evil is like saying Rock Band is better than Guitar Hero 3(they're the same damn game!!!)

oooh I love F13th too! have you played the nes nightmare on elm street game? that one's also fun. My favorites would have to be the castlevania games and the original Doom trilogy. I was severly dissappointed with the new ones and how it's just nonstop killing and the puzzle aspect is totally gone for the most part. The grey overtones get really old after awhile too I miss all the diff colors the original ones had. Resident evil I could never really get into except 4 which I beat a couple times. Too boring and hard to figure anything out and I hated how the only way to kill the zombies was to burn them, that's just totally retarded, if I take out your computer your bodies useless.

Yes, I played the first game, and silent hill the room. I liked it, but it is one of those games that plays just like a previous gam*Ex. Dino Crisis is Resident Evil with dinos*

And i chose a shot from columbine because i think those two kids are really misunderstood*Go to a columbinesite.come to read the basement tapes, I recommend it* plus, I feel a lot like them...at least once. *read earlier posts on What made you proud today*

yeah, I have to agree with you on a lot of that stuff, I too was severely disappointed in doom 3. I thought it didnt really catch the overall play aspect that made the first one so good.*man, using that shotgun felt sooo good!* and as for resident evil, you probably played the game cube version. The one on playstation 1 is a classic.

Friday the 13th was an awesome game! There were actually 2 of them, 1 for the NES and 1 for the Commodore (I think). In that one, Jason wore black clothes and you had to keep chopping him with an axe. If he killed one of your friends, a bloddy head with an axe in it would flash on the screen and scream. That scares the crap out of you.

I picked up Obscure 2 for the Wii. It's a 2 player "Resident Evil" style game but I haven't played it much yet.

Until a couple weeks ago, I never even knew it existed. Lol.

I forgot about CastleVania! I can remember playing Belmont's Revenge on the old gameboy on roadtrips out on the seemingly endless highways of Nebraska. God I miss those days.

When I was playing RE4(which wasn't very long ago), whenever I shot them in the head, their entire head just kind of exploded. Though, that game, to me, was intense. Especially the first time you encounter the Chainsaw man. I was wondering around that house nervously and suddenly I heard the chainsaw, so I walked over and looked out the window. Once I saw him coming toward the house I ran around the house trying to find a spot to hide. XD
At one point, for some reason, I remember throwing an egg at him.. o_O

As for Doom type, I've always been more for the Heretic series, especially HeXen. I still play that pretty often these days. :D

I never played the original for Playstation and like I said before, The Room is my least favorite. If The Room was all I had to go by I would say RE is better as well. You really owe it to yourself to play two and three. Both are great games.

I can understand that but still, they killed a lot of innocent people. Nothing IMO can justify that and I certainly would hate to have any associations between them and my presence on a forum.

Pretty much the same thing, but with a different storyline and magic as well as swords instead of guns and such. It's more medeival basically.

Silent Hill 2 and 3 for the PS2. They don't have any alternative names, just two and three.

You don't need to change your avatar, it doesn't bother me that much. I was just wondering what your motivations were. Curiosity.

Has anyone here ever played Dead Rising? It's pretty sweet, basically just Dawn of the Dead the game. The only thing that bothered me was the timed missions thing. I had to restart my file like 4 times, and I still havent finished it yet. I hope they fix that in the sequel.*assuming the rumors of a sequel are true*

Yeah I love that game too. It's like megaman how you can pick what castle you go to and I always thought that was really cool. I wish they'd make another castlevania like that one. I sort of a castlevania junkie. I've played them all and recently bought a psp to play the new one that was just released in the states for it for the first time.

Yes I love that game. One of the best on the 360 when I got it I played it nonstop for 2 solid months. I like how it's like GTA in that you can pick to go to the next mission or just mess around and kill zombies or explore new areas of the mall in hopes of finding new weapons. It's also funny how there's a little disclaimer on the front of the box saying it has nothing to do with the dawn of the dead movie when it's the same exact premise and you can tell they ripped things from it. :p

The original Doom is up there for Best, of course GTA is amazing, but the original Doom is one of those games that will always be great, no matter how tremendous each new system is.

It's got to be Silent Hill 2 or 3; unsure as to which one to choose. I also loved Silent Hill The Room; some scary moments. Can't wait till Silent Hill 5. Alone in the Dark was utter ****! So disappointed.

I love Silent Hill. In my opinion it is better then any horror game and I have played Resident evil, doom, constantine, the suffering and many more but Silent hill is 100% more scary. Especially number 4. Trapped in a apartment and having freaky things in there would scare the living daylights out of me. Cool game though.

SH4 scared the piss out of me the first time I played it; The very first part, the nightmare sequence. Mainly it was the scream just before you get to the bedroom door, along with the static covering up all other sounds. They managed to make an AMAZING atmosphere for that game. Another thing about the scream, they did it just a way so that depending on the quality of your speakers, you can't tell if it's on the game or if it's somewhere else, lmao.

There's an SH5 coming out? I'll have to look into that.

The BEST horror computer games are as follows:

The ORIGINAL Doom: Back in 1994 it was YEARS ahead of it's time (John Carmack is a GOD!)

Doom 3: This was the scariest game to play because it was so realistic, the graphics were cutting edge, and there was little to predict, as enemies popped out of the floor, ceiling or anywhere you WEREN'T expecting them.

I am looking forward to Aliens: Colonial Marines for the Xbox 360. As a MASSIVE fan of the Alien franchise I think this is going to be one of the BEST Alien games made to date.

Alien Trilogy (Playstation) was the first, and was rather good, if not a little repetative. Then there Alien Resurrection (Playstation) which I thought was a MAJOR letdown. BUT the AVP series (excluding the AVP: Requiem for the PSP) was AMAZING!

I think there's a big difference between Silent Hill and Resident Evil. The kinds of scares that you get in Silent Hill are quite different; it's an ongoing sense of dread, creepiness, spookiness. Resident Evil seemed more of the "gotcha!" type of scary moments. Totally different atmosphere from one game to the other.

Now Resident Evil and that dinosaur game the earlier poster mentioned...you're absolutely right. The games were almost exactly the same.

Randy

Oh, and any of the Silent Hill games would probably be my favorites.

Worst horror video game ever though? That would have to be Land of the Dead - The Road to Fiddlers Green. Wasn't scary, wasn't fun, and the controls were terrible.
